LCD displays apply two sheets of polarizing material with a liquid crystal solution between them. An electric current went through the liquid makes the crystals to line up so that light cannot pass through them as seen with medical grade video monitors. LCD display utilizes electric charges to twist and untwist liquid crystals which make them to block light and therefore give off blacks.
